Fried Green Tomato BLT
Prep Time: 30 minutes / Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Bacon. Lettuce. Tomato. Is there a better trio of ingredients for a simple sandwich? Kick it up a notch with fried green tomatoes a spicy mayo and some blue cheese.
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees for the bacon and bake for 10-20 minutes until desired crispiness. Transfer bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to cool.
Step 2
Make the spicy mayo. Combine mayo, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire, and hot sauce. Wash the lettuce thoroughly and allow it to dry completely.
Step 3
Prep the green tomatoes by slicing 1/4 inch thick and season with salt. Prep the seasoned flour (garlic powder, salt, black pepper), egg wash, and cornmeal. Coat the tomato slices and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to help the coating stick.
Step 4
Pan fry the tomato slices over medium-high heat, about 4-6 minutes per side, until golden brown. Toast the bread (grilled cheese style) in cast iron. A light coating of mayo on the bread gives it better texture and color than butter, it doesn't burn as easily.
Step 5
Assemble and serve the sandwiches in the proper order: bacon, lettuce, fried green tomato. Spread with spicy mayo and blue cheese crumbles.
